Schools and districts

During the pilot, the Lubna team sets up schools and districts by hand. Please contact the Lubna team to get started. There is no self-service sign-up for schools yet, and teachers cannot do the setup steps themselves.

The Lubna team has a private admin area for this. For your school or district, the team:

  • Creates it in Lubna. A district can hold several schools, and each school can be linked to its district.
  • Records your signed data agreement. The team notes the date it was signed. The signed copy itself is kept outside Lubna.
  • Adds your staff. Each person needs a Lubna account first. The team adds them as a teacher or as an admin. Admins can set a teaching policy.
  • Links Clever or ClassLink, if you use them, so students can sign in with their school accounts. Student sign-in can only be turned on after the data agreement is recorded.

Tell the team who should be a teacher and who should be an admin, and which sign-in service you use.

Once the Lubna team adds you to a school, you have two places to work:

  • My classes: your own space, where everything you made before is still waiting.
  • Your school: shown by the school’s name.

A Workspace menu appears in the sidebar, under Home. If you belong to more than one school, each one is listed. If you do not belong to a school, you will not see the menu.

To switch, open the menu and choose a workspace. You land on the dashboard, and your current class is cleared, so pick a class again from the class menu.

A few things to know about workspaces:

  • Classes, quizzes, lessons and the rest of your library belong to one workspace at a time. Switch workspaces to see the other set.
  • New things you make go into the workspace you are in now.
  • When you sign in after being added to a school, Lubna starts you in the school.
  • Your existing classes do not move on their own. To bring a class over, see Move a class to your school.

Every class starts in anonymous mode. A class becomes verified school only after the data agreement is recorded. Teachers cannot change this on their own.

Verified school mode unlocks:

  • Student sign-in with Clever or ClassLink, when your district is linked.
  • Student accounts linked to roster codes.
  • Features that need a student’s identity or a parent contact, always with teacher approval.

Everything else works the same in both modes, and names still stay in the teacher’s browser. Read more in Privacy modes.

  • Teachers do not need a school set up to try Lubna. They can start with an invite. See Sign in to Lubna.
