How Lubna protects students

Lubna is built so that student names never reach its servers or its AI. This page explains how, in plain words. It is for teachers, school leaders and families.

  1. Real student names stay in the teacher’s browser.
  2. Lubna’s servers and the AI see only codes, such as S-4F2A, and short labels. Not names or emails.
  3. Logs record IDs and counts, never what a student wrote.
  4. Each teacher’s data is kept apart from every other account’s.
  5. Anything that needs a student’s identity or a parent’s contact waits for a school’s signed agreement.

When a teacher adds a class list, their browser swaps each name for a random code before anything is sent. The list that matches codes to names is stored, encrypted, on the teacher’s own device. Lubna never receives it. Teachers can move it to another device with a passphrase. See Student names stay on your device.

Before a teacher’s typed text or a student’s written answer goes to the AI, the browser also replaces known names with codes. As a last safety net, Lubna’s servers refuse any request that contains an email address, a phone number or a known name.

The AI may see codes, grade band, subject, support codes (like “ELL”), scores, standards, and content the teacher wrote. It is never sent names, emails, phone numbers or narrative IEP text. See AI and your data.

Lubna does not log student data. No names, answers, nicknames, or student-facing prompts and results. Logs hold IDs and counts.

Every query for classroom data is scoped to the signed-in teacher’s school or account. The database also enforces this as a second layer. One teacher cannot see another’s classes.

Pages students use have no third-party ads, analytics or tracking scripts. Fonts and images are bundled with Lubna. Videos, when a teacher adds one, appear only for the teacher.

Lubna keeps codes, grades and support codes, quiz and homework answers keyed by code, exit ticket and weekly review responses, practice sets, gems and cosmetic items, and teacher-only notes. Student nicknames come from a word list and are not names. None of it includes a name, email or birth date.

  • How data is treated depends on the class’s privacy mode.
  • Students can read a kid-friendly version on Your privacy.
  • Teachers can delete a student or a whole class. See Manage students.
  • Questions about your school’s agreement should go to the Lubna team.
