Privacy modes
Every class in Lubna has a privacy mode. The mode decides what Lubna can do with student identity. Student names stay in the teacher’s browser in both modes.
Anonymous mode
Section titled “Anonymous mode”This is the default. A teacher can start alone, with no school setup.
- Students join with a code, plus their roster code or a guest label.
- Lubna only knows codes, never names.
- Per-student AI work keyed by code is allowed, such as grading quizzes and making follow-up practice.
- There are no student accounts.
- Anything that needs a student’s identity or a parent contact is not available.
Verified school mode
Section titled “Verified school mode”A class becomes verified after a school or district signs a data agreement and the Lubna team records it. Teachers cannot switch their own class.
- Everything in anonymous mode still works.
- Students can sign in with Clever or ClassLink when the district is linked.
- A student account can be linked to a roster code. Lubna stores a provider ID, a placeholder name (“Student”) and a made-up address, not the student’s real name or email.
- Features that need a student’s identity or a parent’s contact are possible. Each message is something the teacher approves before it is sent.
Student accounts never give access to teacher pages.
