Assign homework
Homework turns any published quiz into a self-paced assignment. Students answer at their own speed, see feedback after each question, and can leave and come back.
Assign a quiz as homework
Section titled “Assign a quiz as homework”- Open a published quiz from Quizzes.
- Select Assign as homework.
- Choose a class, or leave No class (guests only).
- Set a Due date (optional). The time is in your local time.
- Choose the other options (below).
- Select Assign homework.
Lubna opens the results page for the new assignment, where you find the join code and link.
Options
Section titled “Options”- Second try: Off gives one attempt per question. No points or Half points gives each question one second try after a wrong answer.
- Shuffle question order for each student: off by default. Answer choices are always shuffled for each student.
- Integrity signals: Show to me counts when a student leaves the quiz or pastes into a short answer. See Live quiz settings for what is and is not counted.
Homework has no timer. Every question is scored on accuracy, with full points for a correct answer.
Share it with students
Section titled “Share it with students”On the assignment’s results page, the top card shows the Join code and a link. Share either one by posting it in your learning platform, writing it on the board or sending it home.
Students open the link, or go to the join page and enter the code. Then they enter their student code, or join as a guest if you did not pick a class. See Join a quiz for what they see.
What students experience
Section titled “What students experience”- They answer one question at a time, in order.
- After each answer they see whether it was right, the feedback for the choice they picked, or your explanation.
- The first answer to a question is final, unless you turned on a second try.
- They can stop and come back later on the same device and pick up at the next question. This works for about a month.
- When they finish, they see “Homework finished!” and a link that says See your practice work.
Watch progress
Section titled “Watch progress”Open Results in the sidebar (the Sessions page) and select the homework, or find it in the class Activities tab. A card at the top shows:
- Homework with open or closed,
- the due date, or “No due date”, and
- how many students have joined, started and finished.
The page below the card is the regular results page. See Quiz results.
Close homework
Section titled “Close homework”Homework closes by itself when the due date passes. You can close it sooner with Close homework on the card. After it is closed, students cannot answer or join. Results stay available.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Short answer questions are saved for grading later. They are graded when you create follow-up work. See Follow-up practice.
- Students are known by code or guest label only. Names show on your device.
- Homework cannot use team mode.
